Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur Hotel’s Italian restaurant, Villa Danieli Wins 1st Runner Up in Flavours of Australia Restaurant Challenge 2013

Kuala Lumpur, September 2013 – Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur Hotel’s very own authentic Italian restaurant, Villa Danieli recently participated in Flavours of Australia Restaurant Challenge 2013. It was a friendly competition amongst some of the best restaurants in Kuala Lumpur and Villa Danieli was announced as the 1st runner up in the challenge!

‘Flavours of Australia’ is a festival that was held in the month of June 2013, highlighting Australian’s various specialties. This event aimed to uplift the shared passion for food between Malaysia and Australia, as well as encourage appreciation for creative styles and flavours of Australian food and beverages.

With an estimated number of 25 participating restaurant outlets, the highlight of Flavours of Australia Restaurant Challenge 2013 was the Flavours of Australia Promotional Menus. A special menu was created, highlighting Australian produce as the main ingredients, paired with Australian wines. Restaurateurs and hoteliers competed equally with the proposed price given in each category of the challenge. Only the top three restaurants with the highest achievement of Flavours of Australia Promotional Menu sets sold were announced as winners.

By matching Malaysia’s passion for food, combined with exceptional culinary talents - spectacular Australian food and beverages were produced!  Ranging from appetizers to main courses and desserts, the menus was further complimented by well-loved Australian wines that bring the best out of food and wine pairing.

Flavours Of Australia - Kobe Beef

Needless to say, the Villa Danieli’s team led by Director of Culinary, Restaurant & Bars - Chef Rajesh Kanna performed outstandingly with much enthusiasm and effort in the challenge. To promote the Flavours of Australia festival, a special Kobe Beef 3-course set menu was crafted. An exquisite glass of Penfolds wine was recommended to complement the meal for diners to heighten their sense of taste. At the price of RM350++, Villa Danieli successfully sold 17 sets during the challenge, rising up as 1st runner up. Without the team’s perseverance, passion and each of their own strength, one would not have even imagined of gaining such great achievement.
